The main difference between a novel and a drama is derived from the formatting of each piece. A novel is generally written in basic prose while a drama is almost exclusively written in dialogue.

Difference between Drama and Novel. Drama In the literary sense, the term drama refers to a composition in prose or verse, which uses dialogue to present a story (especially intended to be acted or interpreted in a scenario) in which conflicts and situations arise between the characters; for this reason, it is not surprising that the word drama is also.
